After an enormously successful inaugural season the people behind the Montana Big 5 Super Series are looking to build on that vision and bring a more affordable Late Model division to the racers and fans in the northwest. Mission Valley Super Oval in conjunction with South Sound Speedway have collaborated to create a race division with the goal of providing excellent racing at a reduced cost to the race teams.
To accomplish this goal they sought input from drivers, teams, chassis guru and engine builders alike. The conversations spurred by this idea uncovered a desire to assemble a rule book that teams throughout the northwest would embrace and fans would love due to the close competition that it will produce. After extensive deliberation and a rigorous tire test, both facilities have chosen to partner with American Racer as the tire manufacturer and the American Racer 153 tire, a 10" slick, that was made popular by Larry Collins from the SRL Series. Both tracks have opted to limit the number of tires available each weekend to teams throughout the year to help keep tire costs in check while allowing for cars that do not attend each race to compete.
Currently drivers looking to progress through the ranks face a steep climb from the Hobby Stock/Legend division with no division to gain the valuable experience needed prior to competing in the ultra-competitive Super Late Model Division. This division will also serve as a long-term home for veteran drivers to flourish and teach the younger generation some of the race-craft skills that is missing early in a racer's career.
Mission Valley Super Oval will be featuring the USA Late Model Series for 5 events during the 2025 season with all 5 of those races broadcast live on Racing America TV that will feature (2) 75 lap Main Events and (3) Twin 35 lap Main Events. South Sound Speedway intends to host 5-7 USA Late Model races in the upcoming season with a few "Special Events" including the coveted "Kevin Carver Memorial Twin 41s".
The tracks would like to thank everyone that contributed to this idea. It was great to see the enthusiasm everyone approached this opportunity with. You all gave a considerable amount of your time and resources to help us with what we feel is a solid starting spot for this division to build from. Thank you.
We'll see you at the track soon!
